If we are to understand the signs of the times and not be caught unaware the rising evil, we must unseal the testimonies and reveal the unifying prophecy God has given us.
Many Witnesses but one Prophecy
There are many prophetic writers of the Bible – each a piece of end-time prophecy, but there is one Author. To have a true understanding of prophecy we must stop thinking of individual prophecies. Instead, we must consider the unifying prophecy consistent with all testimonies.
Most of us see Bible prophecy very confusing. We work to understand a prophecy, track down the evidence and apply it to history. Though we may think that we have unsealed its mystery, when we look at another prophecy or interpretation, we may realize our explanation doesn’t fit. We have all experienced this. It’s frustrating when we are desperately trying to find the truth.
Why is this? Let’s understand that each of these prophets and their testimonies are witnesses to a piece of the prophecy. God didn’t give each witness the full story for a reason. We were destined to understand and reveal these prophecies a later time.
“The Time for Unsealing these Testimonies to Reveal Prophecy is Now“
It is our destiny to understand these testimonies at a time when –
- we have the technology to share ideas and easily match up the language of scriptures
- we have access to the meaning of words across several languages at our fingertips
- it is the end-time when as an angel told Daniel, “many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”
I believe this angel meant that we would understand these testimonies at a time when our separation by distance is inconsequential. At a time when the lines of communication have opened up the opportunity for us to share ideas and have the knowledge available to understand these mysteries. The time for unsealing these testimonies to reveal prophecy is now.
In His infinite wisdom, God gave overlapping testimony to several witnesses, to establish the truth of their testimonies. And He has equipped us with the technology to uncover these similarities and tie the prophecies together.
No longer should we refer to prophecy as “Daniel 7”, “Daniel 8”, “Ezekiel 38” or “Revelation 13”, but rather refer to the “rise of the beast” and unite the testimonies to paint the full picture. (See my post, The Rise of the Beast: Unifying Scripture)
No longer should we refer to the breaking of the 7 seals and the signs given in the Oliver discourse as separate events, but one event told by several witnesses. (See my post, Six Seals Revealed in the Olivet Discourse)
“God Establishes Truth through the Testimony of Two or Three Witnesses”
We know from Deuteronomy 17 and 19 and echoed in multiple other scriptures that the truth is established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
If you have a prophetic interpretation and cannot find consistent testimony in prophecy across multiple witnesses, your interpretation is wrong.
Similarly, if you have a theory of prophecy and it contradicts other prophecy, it is wrong.
Remember there is one Author of the Bible and He does not contradict Himself. This is why neither pre-tribulation nor post-tribulation theories are correct.
Clues to Understanding Prophecy
Multiple testimonies – I use this principle of multiple testimonies in revealing prophecy.
Know biblical symbols – Mountains, heads, horns and wings are all symbols used consistently in Bible prophecy. You must understand these symbols to reveal the mystery of the prophecy.
Apply a Godly lens – Ask God for a spirit of revelation and wisdom before considering an event. In this was you may apply a Godly lens to your eyes and not a worldly lends.
Remove the blinders of today – Though I try in my blog posts, applying prophecy to current events is not always accurate. It is hard for us to see prophecy through the blinders of what we see and know today.
For example, just because a country is here today, does not mean that it will be here in even a few years. History shows us that countries rise and fall; sometime quickly. As an example could anyone have imagined that the USSR, a superpower and global threat would be dismantled in just a few years?
The permanence of kingdoms is a fallacy that we must drop when applying current events to prophecy.
Apply prophecy to events – Learn the testimonies of the prophets in a unified manner first, then view current events through this filter. Many of us look at an event and then search scripture for a match. This is a flawed approach, because you may rely on limited witnesses. If you understand the testimonies and see an event, you will be reminded of all of the scriptures applicable to that event. In this was you will know if the event is relevant.
I may make these mistakes as well as I present current events in my posts. But use these clues to help you be a good discerner of current events and their fit in prophecy.
