As beliefs of alien life grow, many see the potential for an end-times deception involving aliens; is this mystery hidden in Revelation?

The Rise in UAP Phenomena and Alien Beliefs
The world has its share of high strangeness. However, it’s not apparent to the average person living in Western culture. The 20th-century mindset has shifted away from spirits to science. Before the explosion of science and technology, a person would have associated sickness with demons, and pagans would have sought out shamans for healing. But as modern culture shifted from witch doctors to Minute Clinics, we closed our minds to the spirit realm.
When I grew up, people who believed in UFOs, aliens, ghosts, and cryptids were considered weird. But that stigma is rapidly fading away, as released military videos of UAPs have legitimized the phenomenon in the public’s eyes.
According to a Newsweek poll in 1996, only a minority of Americans (20%) believed that UFOs were proof of alien life. More than 2.5 times as many believed in natural explanation (51%). But those statistics have now flipped. According to a 2022 poll, more people believe in an alien explanation for UFOs (34%) than a natural explanation (32%).
This poll also showed that not only do the majority of people believe aliens probably exist (57%), but that contact is probable. 32% of respondents believed alien contact is probable to occur in the next 50 years, with 19% believing it will happen in the next ten years.
Those with a true Biblical worldview are more likely to see these activities as the work of fallen entities in the spirit realm. However, Barna found that only 6% of the population holds a true Biblical worldview when questioned on specific topics.
Is the world primed for an end-times delusion about alien visitors? An if so, is there evidence in the Book of Revelation that this will actually happen?
High Strangeness in Revelation
High strangeness is a term coined in the 1970s for things that seem peculiar, bizarre, or even absurd. The book of Revelation is full of such things. It includes beasts with multiple heads and horns, locusts with crowns, woman’s hair and lion teeth, fire-breathing horses with lion heads, and frog-like demons.
Rather than try to impose today’s beliefs on the Bible, let’s consider the pool of potential beings described in the Bible that could be causing such strangeness.
The Watchers
Besides Satan, the first group of rebellious spirits described in the Bible are the angels of Genesis 6. These angels decided to take human women as wives, producing offspring called the Nephilim. The Bible describes these hybrids as giants and many cultures document them in their history.
The Babylonians would have known of these angels and their offspring as the Apkallū. Other cultures, such as the Greeks or Romans, would have known these as titans, gods, and demigods.
God was deeply grieved by these rebellious actions that circumvented His plan for creation. He caused the Nephilim to war against each other and sent a flood to destroy them. Stories of this great flood can be found worldwide.
And God dealt with the offending angels by sending them to the abyss after witnessing the destruction of their abominable children. Though the Old Testament gives us only a summary in Genesis 6, it gives us the proper frame of reference to view these events.
Both 2 Peter 2 and Jude confirm that these angels who sinned are imprisoned in the abyss. As this information was not in the Old Testament, we can conclude that Peter and Jude obtained this knowledge from Enoch I, an apocryphal writing. Though not considered canon, Peter and Jude’s reference to Enoch as a source of information about this event adds legitimacy to the story of fallen angels told by Enoch.
We learn from Enoch that these angels, known as Watchers, gave humans knowledge of things that corrupted them. They taught them metallurgy, which led to the production of weapons of war. They taught women about cosmetics, which led to fornication. And they also told them secrets about sorcery and astrology.
Could this story somehow relate to “alien” activity today?
The Watchers and Aliens
Some hold to a worldview that aliens were behind the account of the Watchers and Nephilim; even creation itself. Popular shows such as Ancient Aliens spread this errant belief and attribute many Biblical mysteries to aliens. They attribute the hybridization of the Nephilim to the mixing of humans and aliens. They also attribute the teaching of secret knowledge required to build the megastructures of the ancient world to aliens as well.
These beliefs are delusions for those who reject the Biblical worldview. But instead of aliens being behind the account of the Watchers, might the Wathers be behind the accounts of aliens?
The world has not seen the last of the Watchers.
Enoch Chapter 10 states, “…they shall see the perdition of their beloved, bind them for seventy generations underneath the earth,… until the judgment,… Then shall they be taken away into the lowest depths of the fire in torments; and in confinement shall they be shut up forever.“
So from this passage (also Jude 1:6), we learn that the watchers will be transferred from the abyss to the Lake of Fire (where the Beast and False Prophet are thrown). Enoch doesn’t tell us what happens between those events. This is where Revelation 9 fills in the details.
Return of the Watchers
There is a strange event described in Revelation 9. It foretells that an angel will come from heaven and unlock the abyss, releasing its inhabitants.
The apostle John describes these creatures as locusts released from the abyss. He says they look “like horses equipped for battle. On their heads were something like crowns similar to gold, and their faces looked like men’s faces. They had hair like women’s, and their teeth were like lions’. They had breastplates like iron breastplates, and the sound of their wings was like the noise of many horse-drawn chariots charging into battle. They have tails and stingers like scorpions, and their ability to injure people for five months is in their tails.“
Could these be the Watcher angels of Genesis 6?
We can tie the Watchers to Revelation 9 through the time the locusts cause havoc. Revelation 9 states that the locusts will be given five months (150 days) to come against man. This is a very uncommon period in the Bible. With one exception, the only reference to 150 days is when the waters of the great flood prevailed over the earth. This flood killed the hybrid offspring of the watchers, to the Watchers’ dismay. So there is a connection between the “locusts” released from the abyss and the watchers from Genesis 6 and Enoch.
But there were only 200 Watchers that we know of who transgressed and were punished. Locusts are swarms, countless in numbers. So the Watchers will not be the only ones to come out of the abyss. This could be explained by Ezekiel 31 and 32.
In symbolic language, Ezekiel 31 describes a grand angel being sent to the pit/abyss. This could refer to the chief watcher in Enoch, Samyaza. But 31 and 32 also describe hordes of followers going down with him. This could explain the swarms.
So what other rebellious entities may be a part of Revelation?
The Other Beings Affecting Mankind
Nephilim
While the 200 Watcher angels from Enoch 1 were imprisoned, they left behind a rebellious legacy. Some of the watchers’ hybrid Nephilim offspring appear to have survived the flood. Genesis 6:4 states, “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward.“
The Bible tells us about giant races like the Anakites, the Amorites, and the Emites, among others, who were descendants of the Nephilim. These were referred to in the Bible as the Rephaim. God instructed the Israelites to kill these giants, and interestingly, many other cultures describe enemy giants that their ancestors fought, including Native Americans.
Giant skulls and whole skeletons have been uncovered across the globe. One unique feature of the skulls is their oblong shape. Clearly, these are not modified human skulls; they have key physiological features that are incompatible with human skulls.
This oblong-shaped skull can be found throughout iniquity, such as in Egypt and Peru.
If these are the skulls of the Nephilim or Rephaim, it is interesting that they share a bulbous head with the depiction of grey aliens. Could this be the smoking gun linking the Watchers and Nephilim to the alien phenomenon?
Demons
What happened to the Nephilim after death?
According to Enoch Chapter 15, verse 8, the Nephilim’s spirits became evil spirits that inhabited the earth. The book states that because they were created from above, they would be spirits, but because they were born on the earth, their spirits would inhabit the earth. They are called evil spirits and terrestrial spirits in Enoch, and we know them as demons.
The book further tells us that demons are always thirsty; they are always in want. Disembodied, they seek embodiment and will enter people who allow them. But they can enter other types of flesh as well. As described in the story of Legion, demons were shown to embody pigs.
Some researchers, such as L.A. Marzulli have postulated that the alien greys may be like avatars. That is, artificially created biological bodies to give a body for demons. Like demons, these creatures are said to be cold, dark, and devoid of empathy. He noted that in one abduction account, the victim reportedly found lifeless grey alien bodies in storage.
So could these entities that we think of as grey aliens be the henchmen for powerful fallen angels who are still “pulling the strings” today?
Princes/Principalities
God taught Moses a song before his death recorded in Deuteronomy 32:8. And in this song, he sang the following verse:
“When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided up humankind, he set the boundaries of the peoples, according to the number of the heavenly assembly.1“
This heavenly assembly is also referred to in (Pss 29:1, 89:6, and 82). These are the angelic beings sent to oversee the nations, which are believed to be 70 in number (per Genesis 10).
But according to Psalm 82, they ruled unjustly and favored the wicked. Daniel referred to them as princes in Daniel 10, but he saw these wicked rulers in the spirit as beasts in chapter 7.
The Apostle Paul also referred to wicked angels in Ephesians 6:12, calling them “rulers, powers, world forces of this darkness, and spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.“
So could these spirits in the heavenly places account for activities attributed to extraterrestrials?
It is certainly possible that these princes are behind this deception. Remember that the Watcher angels, like Azazyel, had advanced knowledge of metallurgy, astronomy, and possible power sources that allowed them to facilitate the construction of megalithic structures of antiquity. Clearly, these angels are more than spirits and are able to manifest in the physical world with physical objects. Such objects could use technology beyond our knowledge and capabilities today.
So could all the UFO activity be attributed to 70 princes of the air?
Note:
(1) The Masoretic text, from which the Old Testament is translated, is translated to “sons of Israel,” but a much older Qumran fragment states “sons of God.” The Septuagint, which was translated the Greek from a text also older than the Masoretic text, reads “angelōn theou”, or “angels of God”. “Sons of God” is accepted as the original reading
Satan’s Rebellious Angels
There was a much larger rebellion of angels than any previous rebellion. Per Enoch’s account, the Watcher rebellion included 200 angels. The sons of God given to the nations after the Tower of Babel rebellion numbered 70. But the uprising of Revelation 12 eclipses these in number.
Revelation 12:7-9 states that in Jesus’ time, Satan and angels loyal to him rebelled. There was a war in heaven between the angels, and Michael and his angel overpowered Satan and his angels, banishing them from heaven. From verse 4, we can infer that Satan took one-third of the angels with him to the earth. How many angels was this?
From Hebrews 12:22 and Revelation 5:10-12, we learn there are “myriads of myriads” of angels. A myriad is 10,000, so a myriad of a myriad is 100 million. The term myriads is not specific enough to calculate the total number of angels, but it would be hundreds of millions. So after Jesus was resurrected, hundreds of millions of rebellious angels were banished to the earth. Perhaps there are even 200 million, the number of soldiers led by four angels in Revelation 9 (more on this later).
All in all, could this massive number of rebellious creatures from angels to demons account for the high strangeness reported today?
Does Revelation Describe an Alien Deception?
Think about the trouble the 200 Watchers caused; the whole earth had to be flooded. Then think of the trouble caused by 70 unrighteous angels who oversaw nations and caused wars and suffering worldwide. Satan’s rebellion occurred almost 2,000 years ago. Just think of what kind of damage millions of fallen angels have caused on the earth since then. Certainly, we have experienced their presence among us.
Many stories, legends, and fables exist about giants, fairies, little people, and cryptids. Accounts of these beings are not solely physical but carry a supernatural element. And many of these stories have parallels to modern stories of alien abductions and sightings. Is it possible that the extraterrestrial reports are the same beings repackaged for a technological era? You can find links to my prior posts on this topic below.
Whatever has happened up to now will only grow worse.
We know that at the end of the age, the “restrainer” (the Holy Spirit) will no longer hold back the beasts. Is it possible that once unrestrained, the princes/beasts will become even more visible to the people on the earth? May they appear in a way to deceive the whole world and bring about the devotion to the beast described in Revelation? May they appear as extraterrestrials?
This will be covered in Part II, which is coming out soon.
