As the world grows darker, we must walk in the power of God to avoid deception and resist the temptation of the power of darkness

The Rise of Power at the End of the Age
Power – it’s one of the main themes throughout prophetic scripture about the end times. In these times, we see the power of darkness rising and exerting its power over the people. We will soon see the power of the wrath of God poured out on the earth. And we will witness Jesus return from the sky in a show of massive power as the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
But when Jesus was incarnated on the earth as a baby, He lacked this Godly power. To become our savior, He emptied Himself and came to us in human form and, in doing so, surrendered His power. It was the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that gave Him the power to perform signs and wonders as a human.
In these end times, Jesus will be mimicked by the darkness. Like Jesus, the Antichrist will not walk in His own power. So just as the spirit of the Father empowered Jesus in human form, the Antichrist will be empowered by His father, Satan.
And with Satan’s power, he will copy the tactics Jesus and His followers used. Just as Jesus’ followers performed signs and wonders to prove the truth, the Antichrist will send a false prophet with the power to perform signs and wonders to deceive.
So as the Antichrist rises to take power, and the false prophet performs great signs, what will the Christians do? What does the Bible say about our power?
According to the apostle Paul, “in the last days, people will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power.”
Is this our destiny? To simply be churchgoers who are void of the power of God?
The Church at the End of this Age
As we near the end of the 2,000-year period known as the Age of Grace, a.k.a. the “end-times”, the church will change. This is a necessary transition to prepare for the coming age when Jesus will rule the earth.
A similar transition occurred at the end of the last age, the Age of Torah. The Torah system had to be broken and eventually discontinued before the Age of Grace began. This transition started with Jesus’ ministry and ended with the destruction of the temple and the official ceasing of sacrifices.
As the temple system ended, the church system rose. But that system must eventually go away to be replaced with a new order under Jesus’ rule. How will this transition occur?
Paul wrote that in the latter times, there will be a falling away, or apostasy, in the church. This must happen before the “man of lawlessness,” or Antichrist, reveals himself. And Jesus enlightened us on what this apostasy will look like in the letters to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3. Some churches will adopt society’s ways over God’s ways. Some will perform good deeds but be dead in spirit. And others will rely on their own prosperity and be nothing more than Sunday morning attendees.
But not all will fall away. The apostasy must occur before the man of lawlessness is revealed because the Holy Spirit restrains him. And as long as Spirit-filled believers are on the earth, the Holy Spirit will also be. These believers are those who an angel told Daniel will have insight and will lead many to righteousness in the end times.
So how will these people with insight lead many to righteousness?
The Key to Leading Many to Righteousness
The apostle Paul led the spread of the gospel to the gentiles near the end of the last age. Surprisingly, his time was not too different than today. In my post on the church apostasy, I showed how Paul used nearly identical terms to describe the people of his day to the people of the “last days“.
So, if the people now are the same as the people then, shouldn’t the tactics to reach them be the same?
Paul knew, as demonstrated by Jesus that words alone were not enough. He had to demonstrate the power of God.
Paul wrote, “For the kingdom of God is demonstrated not in idle talk but with power.”
He also wrote, “to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed, in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God,…“
And he noted, “My conversation and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on the power of God.“
If Paul, a top scholar of Torah, couldn’t use words alone to bring people to Christ, how can we?
Peter was the first to demonstrate this after the Holy Spirit came to the apostles. In Acts 3, Peter and John were walking to the temple and encountered a lame man at the gate. Peter healed the man, and the people nearby were “astounded and ran together to them.“
This allowed Peter to preach the gospel to the people. Without the sign of the healing, Peter would not have been as effective in spreading the word.
So how can we walk in God’s power?
Walking in the Power of God
As I wrote in the earlier posts in this series, learn how to come in and go out. That is, learn to come into His presence and go out with His presence. I’ve linked the predecessor posts at the bottom of this page in case you missed them.
As demonstrated by Jesus and His apostles, delivering healing is one of the most effective ways to demonstrate the power of God. When someone feels the relief of pain, warmth, or the presence of the Holy Spirit upon them, suddenly, the invisible God becomes real to them.
There are plenty of books, videos, and teachers of healing. If this is new to you, I would recommend Randy Clark as a good source of guidance.
While we attribute many factors to sickness and disease, the scriptures indicate one commonality. Read this sampling below of scriptures and see what they have in common:
“When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.” – Matthew 8:16
“…and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses” – Luke 8:2
“And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.” – Luke 9:1
“But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy and gave him back to his father.” – Luke 9:42
“…many who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.” – Acts 8:7
Almost every healing described by Jesus and the Apostles included casting out demons/unclean spirits first. The two are inseparable in the Bible.
So how do we apply this to our own times?
Healing in the Power of God
This connection is hard for many to believe today, but almost all pain and disease originate with spirits. A spirit can even prolong injuries caused by physical trauma. I first saw this demonstrated by Mel Bond. Mel can see the troubling spirit operating in a person. He then commands the spirit to leave in Jesus’ name and then commands the healing.
This is key. If you don’t believe me, try it on yourself. (assuming you have been born again in Christ and thereby can call on Jesus’ authority.) If you have a place of pain or injury, command that spirit of pain to leave in Jesus’ name. If you feel nothing, try it again. You may feel movement, such as throbbing or pulsations under your skin. You may also feel the pain shift to another location. If you feel these movements, you have just found a spirit operating in your body.
Command the spirit to leave in Jesus’ name, multiple times if needed, until the movement stops. Then relax that area and state that you yield that part of your body to the power of the Holy Spirit and the authority of Jesus Christ and command the issue to leave.
If you don’t see results, try digging deeper. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal when that issue started. It may have occurred during a time of trauma, allowing the spirit to come in. If so, you may need to forgive the person who hurt you to be able to break the spirit’s hold on you.
Alternatively, it may have its roots in a sin you committed, as revealed by the Holy Spirit. In this case, it may require the repentance of that sin, the remission of that sin to the cross, and the covering of Jesus’ blood. I’ll give some testimonies as examples in the upcoming podcast.
So what is our destiny as believers in the last days?
Walking in the Power of God in the End Times
Will we be like the religious people of the last days who, Paul said would “maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power“?
In the age of deception, why will people be deceived? Jesus said, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.”
We must know the scriptures. And like Jesus, the 12 apostles, the 72 disciples, and Paul, we must also walk in power when we “go out”. And even more so as the end of this age approaches.
The more the darkness rises, the more we are persecuted, the more we are weakened by loss as we resist the spirit of this age, the more God will work in our weakness… and the more we will demonstrate the power of God!
This has been missionaries’ experience in dark places like Africa, Mexico, and South America. Christian believers are driving out demons, healing the sick, and raising the dead on a large scale, just as Jesus commanded.
And Christians are performing these miracles today wherever they live.
As the Beast system grows (whether before or after the rapture), steadfast Christians won’t be able to obtain medicine and buy food. Will they turn to the Antichrist and accept the mark, or will they trust God? Will they accept eternal damnation for instant relief, or will they have the faith to heal the sick and multiply the food as Jesus did?
But to be ready, we must train to build our faith now.
When I first decided to pray for people’s healing, I prayed for over sixty people before the first breakthrough. It was discouraging at times, but I pressed through it. That breakthrough finally came in a time of fasting and dedication to God.
Then I went through a period of delivering amazing healings.
Do we want to be like the people in the last days who are lukewarm in their faith? Let’s not be those who will repudiate the power of God in our lives.
Learn to walk in faith and power now so you will be confident to stand in your faith when the time comes.
