Global risk analysis firm reporting civil unrest unknowingly discovers the hoofmarks of the third horseman

Finding the Trail of the Third Horseman

Verisk Maplecroft, a global risk analysis firm, foresees the potential for rising civil unrest in nearly 80% of the world’s countries. We see this on the news in the headlines every day. Civil unrest is spreading globally, from the world’s democracies like the U.S. to strongholds of tyranny like Iran.

As we exit the end of this Biblical age, or era, this secular firm reports that A dangerous new era of civil unrest is dawning in the United States and around the world.

They are only reporting what they see, but they are onto a more significant series of events that they realize. They’re seeing on earth the results of a spiritual battle of which they are unaware. This “new era” is the time that Jews and Christians have been trying to understand since the writing of Genesis.

Ushering in this era are the Four Horsemen, also known as the four winds/spirits of heaven per Zechariah. These horsemen are the ultimate change agents. Their purpose is to disrupt the establishment to bring down certain powers in order to allow others to rise. They operate in the background to instill false kings and prophets, raise conflict, create social unrest, and bring death through famine, disease, and violence.

Civil unrest is the mark of the third horseman, the rider on the black horse. Most people think of this horseman as the one who brings famine, and he does. However, his purpose is not to kill by famine (as is the purpose of the fourth horseman). Instead, this horseman uses famine to create social upheaval to destabilize countries.

In analyzing the societal trends, has this risk analysis firm found itself on the trail of the third horseman? And If so, what do they project is coming?

Famine and Civil Unrest

The book of Revelation describes the third horseman like this,

“…behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.

A quick read of this passage tells the reader this horseman brings famine. This understanding is accurate. A quart of wheat is about one day’s ration, and a denarius is a day’s pay. So one worker would need to work all day to pay for a single person’s ration.

But why not damage the oil and wine? Oil was and is used for many things besides baking, such as maintaining one’s complexion. Wine would be used for celebrations. This passage indicates that while the poor will toil and suffer from food shortages, the rich will have the means to continue enjoying the finer things.

Another clue is the scales. Though scales were used in commerce, they were not needed to weigh a quart (choinix) of grain, as a quart is a measure of volume not weight.

However, scales often represent justice and balance. In this case, the scales likely represent an imbalance in society. The third horseman causes shortages to further divide people between the “haves” and the “have-nots,” bringing civil unrest.

Amazingly, Verisk Maplecroft established this same connection. As if reporting Bible prophecy, they wrote, “Globally, the increase in protests is expected to be primarily driven by food insecurity.”

The food shortages will cause social imbalances, leading people to rise up in arms against people, particularly those of another social class.

So what insight can Verisk Maplecroft give us about this dangerous new era of civil unrest?

Dangerous Era of Civil Unrest Dawning

To assess the levels of unrest across the world, they created the Civil Unrest Index. This index evaluates risks caused by the “mobilization of societal groups in response to economic, political, or social factors.”

Using this scale, they found an increase in protest movements from only 73 in 2006 to 251 by 2020.

And where do you think the U.S. ranked among the world’s 198 countries?

At the time of this report, Verisk Maplecroft reported that the U.S. had jumped from the 91st riskiest jurisdiction in the second quarter to the 34th by the end of the year. So the U.S., once considered the leader of the free world, was within the top 20% riskiest!

And while they projected in 2020 that civil unrest would continue to spread, it would be far worse than they expected.

According to their projections at that time, Verisk Maplecroft expected that 75 countries would experience an increase in civil unrest by late 2022. But by the third quarter of 2022, the number far surpassed their estimate, reaching 120 countries.

The third quarter of 2022 brought an increase in risks from civil unrest in more countries than at any time since the Index was released. Out of 198 countries, over half, that is 101, saw an increase in risk. Comparatively, only 42 experienced a decrease in risk.

So, what is projected for the future?

What Verisk Projects is Coming

According to Verisk Maplecroft’s projects, the worst is yet to come. With inflation surging above 6% in nearly 80% of the world’s nations, unrest is expected to grow. Almost half of all the countries in the Civil Unrest Index are categorized as high- or extreme-risk. And their six-month projections show further deterioration coming.

So how can we understand this in terms of Biblical prophecy?

What the Bible Says is Coming

As I mentioned above, the Bible describes the four horsemen as the four winds/spirits of heaven. The four winds initiate the rising of four beasts in Daniel 7. In Zechariah 6, the horseman on the black horse (a.k.a. the third horseman) was one of two sent on a mission to enable the conquering of Babylon. (see The Third Horseman Rides but His Purpose is Not What You Think)

These scriptures reveal to us that the purpose of the four horsemen is to destabilize the established powers on the earth to bring forth a new order.

Look around. Is this not what we are witnessing today? Verisk Maplecroft likely has no idea about the role of the third horseman. However, they are tracking and projecting his path. That path is a significant sign of the times.

Remember Jesus’ words, from which this site is named. “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out… You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why do you not analyze this present time?” – Luke 12:54-56

Food shortages, civil unrest, disease, armed conflicts, contested leadership, and war will bring the current world order to its knees. Technologies extended globally will enable control over the people. With the world in crisis, a leader will consolidate power but operate in rebellion against the name of God and His laws.

When you see these things, know that these are the confirmation of Bible prophecy. And rejoice that our redemption is near.
