Could the shocking correlation between the early manifestations of COVID-19 and abortion heavy states support the possibility that the coronavirus is a judgment from God?

Abortion’s Roots in Pagan Cultures
I realize this is a hard topic to consider. And I want to start by saying that God forgives every woman or man who has been involved with abortion when they come to Him in repentance and surrender to Jesus.
When we think of abortion, most of us don’t think about it as sacrificing a child. And though this topic may make you want to click to another page, I ask you to stay with me for a moment.
In many pagan cultures, the people engaged in rituals believed to bring fertility to their land. These rituals were performed in the presence of idols of pagan gods such as Asherah. Unwanted pregnancies were the “by-product” of these rituals.
So there was another ritual performed to the pagan god Molech. To gain favor from the pagan god to lead a more favorable life, children were sacrificed in fire.
So in these pagan cultures, there was wanton sex, unwanted pregnancies, and the killing of a child to allow the parent to lead a more favorable life.
Today, in our culture, we have wanton sexuality, unwanted pregnancies, and the killing of an unborn child to allow the parent to lead a more favorable life.
As pagan cultures offered the child to a pagan priest to be killed, our culture offers the unborn child to an abortionist to be killed.
These two practices may look very different, but when you strip away the pagan gods, the intent and result is the same.
The Judgment for Child Sacrifice
In the Bible, God found the practice of child sacrifice abhorrent and the act resulted in judgement upon nations.
Child sacrifice was one of the primary reasons stated in the Bible that God judged a nation. He sent Israel against Judah, killing 120,000 men, allowed Assyria to destroy Israel, and sent the Babylonians to destroy Jerusalem.
Today, the practice of killing the unborn so that the parent(s) can lead a more favorable life is widespread. For instance, Florida records the reason for every one of over 70,000 abortions performed in the state. Based on 2018 data, 95.4% of pregnant mothers had elective abortions because of lifestyle choices.
If these percentages are representative of all U.S. abortions, then 57.3 million babies have been sacrificed in the womb for lifestyle reasons since 1973!
Considering how much populations have grown since Biblical times, the innocent blood spilled in our nation eclipses the blood spilled for nations destroyed by God.
Could judgment be due upon our nation and upon the world?
Coronavirus COVID-19 Entered Through Abortion Havens
When COVID-19 first hit the world, I wondered if this was a judgment of God. (see March 30th post, Is the Coronavirus a Warning from God?)
I surmised that if COVID-19 was a judgment, we would see it impact the places with the greatest propagation of sin first. So consider these facts:
- The virus originated in China – China has the most babies aborted of any country. China aborts an estimated 13 million babies annually (compared to ~900,000 in the U.S.)
- The first two abortion-on-demand states in the continental U.S. were Washington and New York.
- Washington state reported the first confirmed case in the U.S. and had the first death in the U.S.
- New York quickly became the epicenter of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the U.S.
- Both Washington and New York led the early death totals in March with 30 and 60, respectively.
- New York passed an extremely aggressive abortion law that effectively allowed abortion up to the date of birth on January 22, 2019.
- The first case of COVID-19 in the U.S. occurred exactly on the first anniversary of that law – reported to the CDC on 1/22/20.
- In April, New York had the highest number of confirmed cases in the U.S. and the highest deaths, accounting for nearly 1/3 of all deaths. (data downloaded from CDC)
COVID-19 A “Harbinger” of Judgment?
This theory has support from others as well. This past month, author and prophet Jonathan Cahn released a book entitled, The Harbinger II: The Return. In this book, he noted that according to a New York Times coronavirus interactive case count, the cases in New York City peaked on April 10th and the 11th. (I confirmed with the CDC data that April 10th and 11th were the highest two combined days of cases reported in NYC). What is significant about these dates?
As I mentioned above, New York was the first state in the continental U.S. to pass a law for abortion on demand. When was this law passed? The New York Assembly voted to pass the law on April 10, 1970, and the New York Senate approved it on the 11th. This is exactly 50 years to the day of the peak of the coronavirus cases reported in New York City.
Can this just be a coincidence?
If there is a connection between COVID-19 and abortion, we would expect to see other high-abortion states affected early. Did this happen?
The State Abortion Correlation to COVID-19
One thing I want to note is that judgment on a nation affects the whole nation. It is not individualized to those who are guilty of a particular sin and those who are not. Once God’s judgment has started, even individuals who live righteously can be affected.
To examine the correlation between abortion and the states first affected, I sought out several data sources. I then compared abortion data to the CDC’s COVID-19 data.
I used CDC data to identify the states with the most COVID deaths, adjusted for population, in April because this was the first month with significant deaths reported.
Then, I ranked these states on the below table, comparing deaths in each state to that state’s ranking in the number of abortions performed in that state, per capita and how abortion-friendly were the state’s laws.
The Findings – COVID-19 and Abortion
State | Most COVID Deaths per 100k | Most Abortions per 100K | Abortion Friendly 1-4* |
NY | #1 | #3 | 4 |
NJ | #2 | #2 | 2 |
CT | #3 | #6 | 2 |
LA | #4 | #24 | – |
MA | #5 | #14 | 2 |
MI | #6 | #13 | – |
DC | #7 | #1 | 2 |
RI | #8 | #8 | 1 |
IL | #9 | #9 | 3 |
MD | #10 | #4 | 2 |
As you can see, the top seven states with the most abortions per capita were also in the top ten for the most COVID-19 deaths. Michigan and Massachusetts were only slightly behind the top ten at #13 and #14. Louisiana is the only state that stands out as an anomaly.
There clearly appears to be a strong correlation between COVID deaths and abortion rates. So is this case closed?
But are there other factors to consider, and if so, do they reveal a pattern in God’s judgment?
What the COVID-19 Death Anomalies Tell Us About Judgement
To question my results, I considered a few challenges to the data:
- The density of a state appeared to be almost as correlated to COVID-19 deaths as abortion. I found that seven of the top ten densest states also had the highest COVID-19 deaths per capita.
- Certain states ranked high in the number of abortions and high in density did not make the top ten, particularly California and Florida.
- Conversely, why would Louisiana be in the top 10 COVID-19 deaths when it didn’t fit the abortion profile of the other states on the list?
Was my premise wrong, or is there something else at play that would explain these observations?
To determine this, I looked at how God dispenses judgement.
The COVID-19 Judgment Fits
Density
In the Bible, God used various judgments to convince His people to turn back to Him. These judgments included enemy attacks, drought, famine, locusts, and even disease. The nature of the judgment fit the particular susceptibilities of the nation being judged.
For example, a plague would be an effective judgment in a dense population such as a city, but would not be so effective in a rural area. Conversely, locusts would be effective in a rural farming area, but not so effective in a city. Similarly, a hurricane would be effective for a coastal city, but would not be used as judgment for an inland city.
So the fact that the seven of the top ten densest states also had the highest COVID-19 deaths per capita does not invalidate the disease as a judgment. Rather it shows that disease is the exact type of judgment we would expect applied in dense areas.
Age
Also, a disease like COVID-19 appears to be a fitting judgment related to abortion because it affects the older generation more than the younger generation.
The Bible tells us that God passes judgment for the shedding of innocent blood on those that shed it. The Bible tells us, “…for blood pollutes the land and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it.“
The first abortion laws were passed in 1970, exactly 50 years ago. The generation at that time is now at the older end of the age spectrum. See the below table on COVID-19 deaths by age group per the CDC.
According to the CDC data, approximately 95% of those who have died of COVID-19 were living when abortion was legalized. The youth who have been the victims of this crime have been relatively unscathed.
These death rates by age stand in stark contrast to the Spanish flu of 1918/19. In that pandemic, half the deaths were between the ages of 20 and 40, and the highest number of deaths were in children under the age of 5.
These factors support the theory that COVID-19 is a judgment for the sin of abortion.
How the Other States are Being Judged
So you can see that judgment fits the region being judged. This also explains why California and Florida may not have been ranked as high as other states on COVID-19 deaths per capita. More than any other state, California is subject to natural disasters such as earthquakes and wildfires. At the exact same time as COVID-19, wildfires have ravaged California.
In fact, this year’s wildfires have doubled the number of acres destroyed by fire than any other year in history. So far, over four million acres have been destroyed and there are still two months left in the wildfire season. Abortion is not California’s only sin. California has been the source of much of the decaying morality in our country through the entertainment industry. This state is also the hub of pornography in the country.
More tropical areas like Florida have been struck by tropical storms including hurricanes. According to the Orlando Sentinel, 2020 has already broken several records:
- The total number of named storms recently hit 23 – the most ever recorded through the summer season (six more than prior record).
- Nine named storms have directly hit the United States mainland, the most 1916 (as I write, Delta is projected to be the 10th).
- The 2020 season experienced the earliest that seven storms made landfall.
- Alos, 2020 tied a record for having three named storms form in 24 hours.
These events are historic and are alongside other historical events including the coronavirus pandemic, locusts in northern Africa and the Middle-East, droughts in Africa and swine flu in China.
The Florida Anomaly (updated 10/16/20)
At the time I wrote this post I was perplexed at Florida. Despite a high number of abortions in the state (#5) and high density (#10), it was #24 on the number of deaths. Plus, despite the historic hurricane season, Florida was largely untouched. I could find no explanation for this so it left a hole in this post.
Then I saw this article, “25 hurricanes left Florida Unscathed After its Governor Prayed in Jerusalem.”
According to the article, last September, Florida Governor Ron Desantis led a delegation of more than 90 citizens on a trade mission to Israel. As written in his prepared statement, Governor Desantis stated, “During this trip, we will affirm Florida as the most pro-Israel state in the nation and strengthen the bond between Florida and Israel for decades to come.“
While in Israel, he signed a resolution honoring the “Israeli-Florida relationship” and a bill prohibiting anti-Semitic remarks. And, while praying at the Western Wall, he inserted a prayer between the blocks that stated, “Good Lord, spare us hurricanes this year.”
So Florida was saved by God’s promise. As God told Abraham from the beginning, “…I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse.“
The Louisiana Anomaly
As I mentioned earlier, Louisiana doesn’t seem to fit the other 9 states’ profile in the top ten in regards to abortion. Lousiana ranks #24 on the most abortions per capita but is #4 on the states with the most COVID-19 deaths in April. Most observers point to Mardi Gras because of the number of revilers who flock to New Orleans for the festival.
But is this just a coincidence, or is there judgment implied? Mardi Gras is considered a Christian holiday leading to Lent, but it is anything but Christian. The festival is full of debauchery in a city known for its roots in darkness.
In New Orleans, Voodoo was infused with Catholicism and became a Voodoo-Catholicism hybrid, sometimes referred to as New Orleans Voodoo. This blending of Christianity with the demonic invites God’s judgment.
New Orleans was hit hard by COVID-19. It appears to be sparred Hurricane Laura’s wrath, but now Hurricane Delta appears to be bearing down on it.
These are Warnings, Not the Final Judgement
These judgments are still warnings. Our nation has not been destroyed by these judgments. On the contrary, God seems to have restrained the number of disasters coming on any one state.
This means that there is still time to repent.
We are in a year of severe shaking, in the U.S. and the world. Now is the time to humble ourselves and repent. God has promised that if we do this, He will heal our land.
